Early traders brought items to Alaska that were NEW for the Eskimos: beads, buttons, coins, mirrors, TB, alcoholism, measles,etc. They also introduced gingham cloth which the Natives loved. They began putting the fur on the inside with the colorful gingham on the outside. You will still see this today.
