Dawson Creek is the official Canadian beginning for the Alcan (Alaska/Canada) highway. This was built during the war and opened for "military" operations after only NINE months of frenetic work in 1942. In 1946 it was opened for civilian use and has changed drastically since then. Taken circa 1950.
